VTT has over 20 year history in researching and developing Medical Technology. The Finnish research institute can be considered as a global expert in certain MedTech fields, such as wearables, printed and flexible electronics, rapid diagnostics and human sensing solutions. In 2020, VTT was seeking a partner to support the productization and manufacturability of their technological innovations.

Etteplan has a long history of being a product development partner that can offer the necessary capabilities for productization such as regulatory consulting, quality assurance, and Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL). With complementing capabilities and competences, the partnership between VTT and Etteplan is strengthening both parties and leading the way for Finnish MedTech innovation.

Collaboration Results in Successful Commercialization of MedTech Innovations

The partnership between VTT and Etteplan has enabled VTT to turn its pre-commercial customer prototypes into a commercially viable products.

Etteplan's expertise in product development and regulatory knowledge has helped VTT to meet the necessary standards and regulations required for productization. Additionally, Etteplan's focus on Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) has ensured that mutually developed products are secure and safe for the end-user.

During the partnership, Etteplan and VTT have successfully combined a wide range of expertise, including electronics, software and mechanical engineering, product verification, and production testing – bridging efficiently the full research and development chain from the beyond-state-of-the-art technology breakthroughs to IEC60601 and ISO13485 compliant mass production.
