Unitra: Strengthening the brand through technical communication

In today’s world, where technology and design intertwine to shape our daily experiences, it is crucial for brands to effectively communicate with users. The collaboration between Etteplan and Unitrа, a brand with a rich history in audio device manufacturing, demonstrates how to combine passion, expertise, and creativity to create clear technical documentation.

Unitra had a clearly defined vision for its image and design, and they aimed to reflect this in their technical communication as well. Our goal was not just to create instructions, but to establish a solid foundation that would support Unitrа’s future projects and growth.

We began the project with creative discussions focused on the appearance and format of the documentation. It was essential for us to preserve the brand’s identity while also showcasing Polish engineering innovation.

Compliance combined with image enhancement

Our first step was to develop instructions for the amplifier, speakers, and two turntables. The material needed to comply with regulations, be easily understandable for the audience, and align with the customer's communication strategy.

As part of our collaboration, we prepared not only the instructions but also essential add-ons such as a safety brochure and a warranty card. Our efforts also included creating press releases and product sheets, which were particularly necessary before the upcoming trade shows.

To support the customer's ongoing activities, we also prepared a framework upon which they could build their own product descriptions. This gave them control over their documentation, translating into greater flexibility and efficiency in future projects.

Expanding Horizons

Before starting the project, we had extensive discussions with the customer about their needs, not only regarding technical documentation but also the vision for the company's growth. Unitra aims to expand into new markets in the future. We decided to support them in this endeavor, which is why English was the primary language for the instructions. We then coordinated the translation of documents into German, French, and Polish, opening new market opportunities for Unitra. "English is the key to global markets; it enables easier adaptation of content to local needs," explains Maciej Chudański, lead visual designer at Etteplan Poland.

Flexible Approach as the Key to Success

The project implementation went smoothly thanks to the flexible approach of the Etteplan team. "First, we discussed aesthetics, and then we moved on to language issues. The goal was to create a clear and understandable instruction that also communicated the key aspects of product usage," says Marcin Górecki, Head of Product Owners, Unitra.

The customer received a full service, from instruction preparation to translation, which had a significant impact on their visual identity and helped them stand out from the competition. "At Etteplan, we look to the future when approaching a project. We ask ourselves what we can offer the Customer to help broaden their horizons. In this case, we provided the Customer with technical documentation that is not only user-friendly but also strengthens their brand image, making it easier to enter other markets," adds Maciej Chudański.
