Celebrating International Women’s Day: The growing role of women at Etteplan
This International Women’s Day (8th of March), we celebrate the growing influence of women at Etteplan. Women are an essential part of our team, driving innovation and progress every day. The data clearly shows that our dedication to gender diversity is making a significant impact. Companies with strong diversity outperform less diverse companies in innovation, business success, and employee satisfaction.
Current Statistics Reflecting Progress
While our overall workforce consists of 75% male and 25% female, we can see that our new hires from 2024 show a more balanced distribution: 68% male and 32% female. In leadership roles, we have made significant strides, with 40% of new leadership positions filled by women. However, we acknowledge the challenge in internal promotions, where only 23% of leadership roles are held by women. In our Engineering Solutions department, women represent 16% of the workforce, while in Technology Consulting Services (TCDS), they account for nearly half at 48%.
Creating Opportunities for Women
At Etteplan, we recognize that women bring invaluable soft skills to the table. Their strengths in communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking significantly enhance our collaborative efforts. Yet, balancing professional aspirations with personal lives remains a challenge. We strive to provide a workplace that embraces this balance.
Minna Tornikoski, SVP of Human Resources, shares, “Etteplan stands out as an appealing employer for women. We prioritize well-being and excel at blending personal and professional lives. Our strength is growing; we have an increasing number of female managers and are committed to creating opportunities for women in every sector.”
A Commitment to Inclusion and Diversity
Our recruitment processes are designed to promote gender diversity. We aim to employ more women than our current proportions reflect. For instance, in the SES business unit, the MWB target has helped to increase diversity in new hires by 6% since 2023.
Hanna Laurila, Head of Talent Acquisition, emphasizes, “I have noticed a growing number of women at Etteplan. This trend is positive and reflects our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.”
The Impact of Female Leadership
As we promote female leadership, we create an environment where future female leaders can thrive. Matilda Tsambasopoulos, Team Manager, states, “I believe more female leaders will inspire female engineers to grow into leadership roles inside our organization or at our customers’.”
Women in Technology
The technology industry benefits immensely from diverse perspectives. Winni Liu, Department Manager, notes, “Women play a vital role in technology, bringing different viewpoints that drive innovation and solve complex problems.”
However, challenges remain. Barbara Gerlach, Team Manager, highlights the ongoing need for change: “In the mechanical engineering sector, women still represent a minority. While attitudes are evolving, we must continue to improve the position of women in our industry.”
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to creating an inclusive environment where women can excel. The journey toward true gender equality may be long, but with our collective efforts, we can create lasting change. Together, we can build a brighter future for women at Etteplan and beyond.
