Andreas Happersberger: “together we can do anything!”

Andreas Happersberger started in May 2022 at the Wiesloch site in detailed planning for electrical engineering, at that time still LAE, which has been part of Etteplan since the beginning of 2024. He completed a certified technical business economist qualification alongside his job. Since this year, he has also been a successor member of the Works Council at Etteplan.

In his current role as a hardware engineer, he is involved in various projects. He plans and designs the entire electrical equipment for the systems. These systems mainly include web-guided calendering systems (a system of several rotating rollers arranged on top of each other, through the gaps of which a melt or other materials are fed) for the plastics/film and chemical industries. The current project is the retrofit of a Slitter cutting machine at a multinational materials company. Here the entire control technology and drive technology is being replaced by Etteplan. A challenge here is the incorrect/partially missing documentation for the existing system and the short implementation period on site.

His most interesting project to date was a project for a well-known customer in America. A dryer was built there to dry solvents from a sealing strip. The system was designed, dimensioned and planned by Etteplan in terms of electrical engineering. The system was first assembled and commissioned in Germany, then packed and delivered to America by sea. We accompanied the reassembly on site and carried out the final commissioning and instruction of the operating personnel, as well as providing follow-up support for the customer in the event of queries. A special feature was the planning according to american standards (UL, NFPA) as well as the design of the system with a Rockwell control and drive technology.

“Thanks to Etteplan's global operations, it is possible to gain international experience. The projects are also generally highly innovative, which is why development continues with every project and you can really learn a lot if you want to,” he explains

In addition to Andreas, there are three other hardware detail planners in the industrial plant automation department at the Wiesloch site. The entire team consists of 14 members, including software developers, project managers, a dual student and a team manager. Work is carried out in project teams, whereby the division is based on suitability, qualifications and interests.

“We have people with sometimes very different areas of expertise, so we are broadly positioned to meet most of our customers' needs. Everyone is there when there's a fire and together we can really do anything” Andreas concludes.

Andreas spends his free time actively and loves being out and about. He is passionate about mountain biking, motorcycle tours and hiking. He also enjoys cooking and eating and is always on the lookout for new experiences.

“The flexible working hours here at the Wiesloch site make it easy to combine work with your personal life,” he says. The option of mobile working also helps to reconcile professional and private interests.

In addition to his day-to-day work, Andreas values team spirit, close interaction and working in a small team with colleagues, as well as joint events and further training and development measures. At Etteplan, he appreciates the freedom to organize his work himself and to be able to do it in his own creative way without having to follow detailed instructions. He really enjoys the variety of projects and the independent and fairly free organization of his working day, which he can adapt to his personal needs, at least in terms of time.

He sees it as an enrichment that he can work on projects from other specialist areas that are not directly in his 'field of competence'. This gives him the opportunity to continuously expand his knowledge. “You are assigned tasks that challenge you. These develop you further and you get the feeling that you are trusted to do it.” He notes.

“You are always surrounded by competent colleagues who always support you with questions and problems, regardless of their nature. Everyone is helpful and makes time for you despite sometimes tight schedules.” Andreas shares appreciatively.
His advice for existing and new Etteplan employees: “Take the opportunity to ask questions - there are many experts here with extensive knowledge.”
