Etteplan to design and develop a breakthrough biopsy device for NeoDynamics

Etteplan, specialists in industrial equipment engineering, technical product information solutions and medical technology, has received a significant order from NeoDynamics to develop a breakthrough biopsy device for breast cancer diagnostics. NeoDynamics is a Swedish medical technology company developing equipment for a safe diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of breast cancer.
The biopsy device will utilize NeoDynamics’ Fourier technology, which leaves tissue structures minimally affected and reduces the risk of dissemination of tumor cells into the body when taking a biopsy. Furthermore the technology is patient friendly due to gentle and minimal intervention of the needle. The oncology biopsy market is estimated at over one billion USD worldwide.
Etteplan’s product development project for NeoDynamics includes the design and development of a ready-to-production biopsy device that fulfills the latest regulatory requirements for medical devices including documentation for CE-marking. The project also includes project management services and involves Etteplan’s companywide competencies in engineering design and product development. “For NeoDymanics Etteplan’s high competence in the area of medical technology and regulatory affairs as well as the company’s certified development process were decisive factors to commence cooperation on this remarkable innovation”, explains Peter Sellei, CEO of NeoDynamics.
