DESIGN SERVICES FROM ETTEPLAN TO NOKIAN TYRES PLANT PROJECT IN ST. PETERSBURG Etteplan Oyj has signed contracts with Nokian Tyres plc and Lemcon Ltd, a subsidiary of Lemminkäinen Group, concerning the design services for a tyre plant in Vsevolozhsk, near St. Petersburg. The total value of the contracts exceeds EUR 1 million. The agreement made with Nokian Tyres plc includes the plant design for the project and the agreement with Lemcon Ltd includes the design of electrical, HPAC and fire protection systems for the factory buildings. The new factory will start production in 2005. The part of the plant completed in the first phase will have a total area of some 21,000 square metres, which provides capacity for producing approximately 4 million tyres annually. The plant will be gradually expanded with additional investments, aiming at a capacity of some 8 million tyres after 10 years. The order strengthens Etteplans position as a significant design engineer of industrial projects in Russia Nokian Tyres plc is the largest tyre manufacturer in the Nordic countries and the most profitable company in its industry world-wide. The company develops and manufactures summer and winter tyres for cars and bicycles, and tyres for a range of heavy machinery. It is also the biggest retreading materials manufacturer and the biggest retreader in the Nordic countries. In addition, Nokian Tyres runs the Vianor tyre chain, which is the largest and most extensive of its kind in the Nordic countries. The chain comprises approximately 170 of its own outlets across Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia and Latvia. Lemcon Ltd is an international project contractor and part of the Lemminkäinen Group of Companies. International operations are concentrated in Europe, but the company has significant operations also in Asia and America. In Finland Lemcon is a major contractor in infra and project management.
