DI&ESSE ETTEPLAN AND METSO PAPER COMO IN ITALY SIGNED
A CO-OPERATION AGREEMENT

According to the Letter of Intent signed in April, Di&Esse Etteplan
Srl, member of Etteplan Group and Metso Paper Como S.p.A, member of
Metso Corporation, have signed an agreement on transfer of selected
Metso Paper Como design services and co-operation for providing
complete engineering supply services such as detail mechanical
engineering, automation engineering and project related customer
documentation from Di&Esse Etteplan to Metso Paper Como. According
to the agreement 18 persons from Metso Paper Como will join Di&Esse
Etteplan. The new operation will be started as of 16th June 2004.

At the same time with the signing of co-operation agreement Etteplan
Oyj has increased its share of ownership in Di&Esse Etteplan to 70 %.
Presently Di&Esse Etteplan employs 17 persons in Bernate Ticino and
the company serves mainly automotive and machinery industries.
Di&Esse Etteplan will set up a design office also in Como, where the
new employees will be located.

The agreement supports Etteplan’s internationalisation and follows
Etteplan's strategy according to which the company offers industrial
technology design services geographically close to its key customers.
The target for Di&Esse Etteplan is to increase its business
operations by offering versatile and high-quality mechanical
engineering, electrical and automation design services to its
customers in Northern Italy.

Through this outsourcing operation, Metso Paper Como aims to improve
functional flexibility and cost efficiency in the design functions.

business of fiber and paper technology of Metso Corporation, a global
supplier of process industry machinery and systems, as well as know-
how and aftermarket services. In 2003, the net sales of Metso
Corporation were EUR 4.3 billion and the personnel totalled
approximately 27,400. Metso Corporation is listed on the Helsinki
and New York Stock Exchanges.
