Standardized occupational safety training — new PSK 6803 -standard published
PSK Standardisointi has published the world’s first basic occupational safety training standard targeted at industrial environments. While many occupational safety standards provide guidance on, among other things, occupational safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001), the new PSK 6803 -standard focuses specifically on the content and organization of basic occupational safety training.
The new standard harmonizes the contents of basic industrial occupational safety training intended for all persons working at industrial production plants or construction sites. The standard defines the minimum information content requirements for basic occupational safety training and sets requirements also for the implementation of the training.
The basic training provides basic occupational safety information. The purpose is to provide trainees knowledge about main safety topics, creating a basis for safe working and skills development. In other words, the standardized training does not replace workplace specific induction, but gives harmonized basis for safe working. The standard may also be used to compare the occupational safety training of different operators, including international.
The standard has been prepared by workgroup PSK 68/3 OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY TRAINING, which includes representatives of production, design, training, consulting and inspection. Etteplan is also part of the workgroup. Etteplan has comprehensive knowledge and services in safety engineering, including occupational safety training according to the new standard.
